🌐 Country-Level Machine Retention

Data holds on returned computers can now follow country-specific policies in your Firstbase account. Depending on how your organization is configured, holds may apply automatically to every eligible return in a region, or you can choose per device during the return flow. You can also track hold start dates, release dates, and days remaining directly in Asset Management.

What's new

• Holds apply to offboarding, one-off returns, and replacements sent to a warehouse (office returns are excluded)
• In Ad hoc regions, IT admins can turn on a data hold for each computer during the return flow
• In Blanket regions, eligible computers are placed on hold automatically when returned
• Hold start, release date, and days remaining appear on return lists and in asset details
• After a hold ends, devices re-enter warehouse processing on the normal queue

How to access

1. Open a return, offboard, or replacement flow from a person's profile or Asset Management
2. Select the computers to return
3. On the equipment step, turn on Apply data hold for each computer in Ad hoc regions (in Blanket regions, holds apply automatically)
4. Submit the return and track hold timelines in Asset Management or asset details
