You can now connect your Apple Business account to Firstbase and automatically verify that Apple devices in your fleet are assigned for Automated Device Enrollment (ADE). After a one-time setup, Firstbase checks assignment status on an ongoing basis so assignment gaps surface before devices reach employees, not after.
What's new
- Self-serve setup: connect Apple Business API credentials under API & Integrations
- Ongoing sync: status refreshes when devices are added and through a scheduled nightly sync
- Asset visibility: see Assigned or Not Assigned status on Apple devices in Asset Management
- Read-only access: credentials use a least-privilege role that can query assignment status only
- Remediation support: Firstbase team automatically monitors devices not assigned properly
How to set it up
- Sign in to your Firstbase account as an admin
- Go to API & Integrations → Integrations
- Under Device Management, select Apple Business API → Configure
- Enter your Key ID, Client ID, and private key (.pem), then submit
Where to find assignment status
After setup, Firstbase syncs assignment status automatically. You can view it in Asset Management for Apple laptops, tablets, and phones:
- Go to Asset Management → All Assets
- Open any Apple device to view its asset details
- In the asset details panel, check the Apple Business badge showing Assigned or Not Assigned
- Hover over the badge to see when status was last synced and when the next sync is scheduled
- To review status across your fleet, enable the Apple Business (ABM) column in table column settings
- Use the Apple Business (ABM) filter to find devices by assignment status
Note: Assignment status syncs automatically, including a nightly sync at 02:00 UTC. If you recently added a device to Apple Business, it may take up to 2-3 business days to appear as Assigned after the next sync.
