Apple product announcements can temporarily impact inventory availability and shipping timelines across all distributors. Here’s what you need to know when placing Apple orders around a launch period.
Before an Apple Announcement
In the weeks leading up to a new Apple model release
Stock Becomes Limited
- Standard (base) models and inventory on hand start running low across distributors.
Restock estimates often shift and get pushed out as availability tightens.
CTO Lead Times Increase
Configure-to-order build times fluctuate and extend as Apple reduces production of outgoing models.
Why This Happens
Apple slows production of older models and ramps up manufacturing for the new generation.
How Firstbase Helps
We continuously monitor vendor inventory and update Expected Ship Dates in the Firstbase platform so you always have the latest information.
When Apple Announces a New Model
Once Apple officially releases a new device:
Pending Orders May Be Cancelled
- Vendors automatically cancel any outstanding orders for outgoing models that cannot be fulfilled.
- If available, any remaining inventory will be fulfilled to open orders.
- Firstbase will notify you right away and provide pricing for the newest comparable model.
New SKUs & Pricing Roll Out by Region
- Firstbase adds new models as Apple releases pricing, typically in this order:
- US
- UK
- Europe
- Australia
- India
- LATAM & other APAC regions
As soon as a region’s pricing is available, new models appear in the Firstbase platform.
What This Means for You
- Some orders may need updated approval if the older model is discontinued.
- You may be asked to choose a new-generation replacement model.
- Availability will stabilize once Apple fully transitions to the new product line.
