Overview
Firstbase supports global equipment delivery for distributed teams around the world. While our ordering process is largely standardized, Brazil has unique local requirements that must be included when placing an order for an employee or office located there.
What Is a CPF and Why It’s Required
For any order shipping to a residential address in Brazil, the recipient’s CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) must be included.
The CPF is a Brazilian tax identification number, similar to a Social Security Number, and is required by local authorities and carriers to successfully process and deliver shipments.
This requirement applies to all orders fulfilled in Brazil, including both dropship and warehouse outbound shipments.
Example format: CPF: 123.456.789-00
Admins and employees based in Brazil can now add or update a CPF directly within the Firstbase platform:
Admins: when creating or editing an employee profile (country = Brazil)
Admins: when placing or confirming a one-off return, replacement, or offboarding
Employees: in their profile or when confirming their details for returns, replacements, or offboarding
If the CPF is not yet available, the order can still be created, but delivery will not proceed until a valid CPF is provided.
B2B Shipments in Brazil
For business-to-business (B2B) deliveries to commercial addresses in Brazil, a CNPJ (Cadastro Nacional da Pessoa Jurídica) is required instead of a CPF.
This is the official business tax identification number in Brazil.
When placing a B2B order:
Add the CNPJ in Address Line 2 of the shipping address.
Example: CNPJ: 12.345.678/0001-90Ensure the delivery address matches the company’s registered business location to avoid delays or customs issues.
Best Practices
Collect CPF or CNPJ details during employee onboarding or store them in your HRIS for quick access.
Confirm that CPF or CNPJ data is entered accurately in the correct format.
Orders missing CPF/CNPJ information may experience delays, as they cannot be processed by local delivery partners.
