The following instructions cover users' most common questions about Steelcase products.

Propr Prch Sit Stand Desk

Please note that the following instructions only apply to the Propr Prch model. Please see the 'Other Steelcase Desks' troubleshooting steps for all other Steelcase desk models. 

How To Assemble:

Prch Sit Stand Desk Assembly Instructions

To initialize or reset the control box, follow these steps:

1. Move the table to the lowest position by pressing the down button on the hand switch until the columns reach the lowest position. 
2. Press the down button again until the table moves slightly down to the machine.
3. Zero point and back up to the operation zero point.
4. Release the down button.
5. The table legs will not move up if the button is released too soon. Repeat the reset process.

**IMPORTANT**  The control box is programmed with a parameter file that controls the table legs' lower and upper travel limits. Under no circumstance should a control box from one table be moved to another.

Other Steelcase Desks

Please note that the following applies to Steelcase desks other than the Propr Prch model.  For the Propr Prch desk model, please see the ‘Propr Prch’ troubleshooting steps.

Adjustment Issues:

If the desk will not fully adjust:

1. Check that the power cable is fully plugged into the outlet.
2. Check that the power cable is fully plugged into the control box under the desk.
3. Check that the desk is not overloaded. 
   • The weight load should be evenly distributed. 
   • Synchronize the lifting columns as outlined below. 

Power Saving Control Box:

Key information about the power-saving functions of the desk’s control box:

• The control box automatically powers down into ‘standby’ mode after 10 seconds of inactivity.
• During standby mode, the control box only consumes 0.1 watt of power. 
• With the control box in standby mode, the desk can lose power without affecting the synchronization of the lifting columns. 
  • However, if the control box is still active and not in standby mode, a power loss will require that the lifting columns be re-synchronized. 
• Power fluctuations and brownouts can also cause the need for re-synchronization.
• Synchronize the lifting columns as outlined below. 

Note: The control box does not reset (initialize) by being unplugged and plugged back in. Refer to the power cycle procedure below.

How To Power Cycle The Control Box:

In the event an error occurs and the desk is unresponsive, follow these steps to power cycle the control box:

1. Disconnect power to the desk for at least 10 seconds to reset the control box. 
2. Reconnect power to the desk and synchronize the lifting columns as outlined below. 

How To Synchronize Lifting Columns:

Follow these steps to synchronize the lifting columns after an error or power cycle:

1. Lower the desk to the lowest position and release the button.
2. Press the controller or down button and hold.
3. After two (2) seconds, the desk will move up and down, settling to its correct ‘bottom’ position.
4. The lifting columns are now synchronized via the software in the control box. 
5. Operate the desk all the way up and down to confirm proper function.

How To Reset Controller Memory:

In the event an error occurs, the controller may need to be reset to the factory settings:

If using the Active Touch Controller:

1. Press and hold the 1 and 2 buttons simultaneously for eight (8) seconds.
2. Continue to press and hold as the display cycles past "ADJUST HEIGHT" and the actual desk height until the display flashes "MEMORY RESET" and the light guide fills.
3. Synchronize the lifting columns as outlined below.

If using the 4 Preset Programmable Controller:

1. Press and hold the up and down buttons simultaneously for five seconds to reset the control box.
2. Synchronize the lifting columns as outlined below.

How To Perform A Manual Reset:

In the event of an error, follow these steps to perform a manual reset.

1. Unplug the visible cables from each socket on the desk and disconnect the wall plug (from both the desk and the wall).
2. Reattach the cables and plug.
3. Press the down button on the Hand Switch until the Columns reach their lowest position.
4. Press the down button on the Hand Switch once again until the Tabletop moves down slightly and then back up slightly. (please do not release the button until the desk pops back up)
5. Listen carefully if this step is performed correctly the Control Box should make a clicking sound.
6. After completing the Initialization procedure, the workstation may be raised and lowered.

Sit Stand Desk

How To Perform A Manual Reset:

Follow these instructions to perform a manual reset:

1. Make sure all cables are connected.
2. It is recommended that light pressure is applied on the desk during the reset.
3. Press the up and down buttons simultaneously.
4. Within approx. five (5) seconds, the desk should begin to move down.
5. Hold the buttons until the desk has moved to the lowest possible point.
6. The reset is complete when the desk has stopped at the lowest point.
