Here's a summary of changes made as part of our September 2024 release:
1. Reserved Inventory
Starting today, whenever you place an order in Firstbase, we’ll automatically reserve inventory against it. This helps you seamlessly track your inventory levels in real-time.
Reserved items will appear on your Asset Management page as Unavailable – Pending Fulfillment. If another item of the same product gets shipped, the reserved item’s status will switch back to Available. Otherwise, it’ll update to Deployed once shipped.
This helps manage inventory better and prevents duplicate orders for the same item.
If you have any questions, click here to view the feature's FAQs in our Help Center.
2. Inventory API Improvements
We've added three new endpoints as part of our inventory API that allow you to update assets via API. The endpoints include:
-
PATCH endpoint to update the status, status reason, condition or the assignment of an asset.
- You can use this endpoint if an item should be archived, or reassigned from person A to person B, for example.
- This endpoint includes some usage guardrails. For example, only assets assigned to a person or an office can be reassigned. Assets that are in a warehouse cannot be reassigned.
- POST and DELETE endpoints to add or delete tags for a specific asset.
Documentation on each endpoint is available here and in Swagger here.
3. JAMF & Jumpcloud MDM Integrations
We've added the ability to connect your MDM Accounts to Firstbase via JAMF or Jumpcloud to start. This integration allows you to track the security details of each of your assets via Firstbase.
- We sync all your device's security information into Firstbase. You are able to see this information directly in Firstbase for each asset by clicking on an asset and going into the security tab of the asset details.
- We’ll then provide a security score per device as a representation of your devices' security status. Our score is calculated based on various security factors like antivirus status, encryption, firewall settings, and session lock enablement.
For more information on the JAMF integration see here. For the Jumpcloud MDM Integrations see here.
4. Billing Start Date on the Asset Management Page
For any inventory procured by Firstbase, we've added a "Billing start date" field in the asset management page, so that you can contrast the assets against any of your invoices. Each asset has a billing start date tied to when the item was procured. This should match the dates when you first received these items in an invoice.
In addition, we also added a "Billing end date" which reflects the date in which subscription items will be renewed.
