Overview
As part of the onboarding process, we provide the option to customize the message employees get when they first log-in into the platform. This content outlines how to do so.
FAQs
1. How can I create a welcome message?
Adding a welcome message can be done by logging into the app, clicking on settings, and then clicking on “customize welcome screen”.
This will prompt a screen where you can type the welcome message you desire workers to see.
2. How does this show to employees?
Employees will see two screens. A first screen with the welcome message, followed by a second screen that explains how Firstbase works.
Screen 1: Welcome message
Screen 2: How does Firstbase work?
3. What is the logic for the welcome message to show to employees?
The welcome message will show if:
- The "Display Welcome Screen" option has been enabled in "Settings - Welcome Message"
- An Employee has not seen welcome message previously.
- The Employee is a basic user (not an admin).
- All new employees added to Firstbase will see it.
4. Will someone see it more than once?
No. An employee should only see the message once the first time they log-in to the app.
5. Can I add a different welcome message for different employees.
Not yet. This will be available in future iterations.
6. Can I customize font colors, text?
Not yet. This will be available in future iterations.
7. Can I customize the image or add a video to it?
Yes.
As part of the welcome message, you are able to add a welcome video, image or GIF.
A video recording showing how this works is available here.
The following media types can be added:
- A youtube link (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owZiOi3KD58 )
- An image URL (URL must be a valid .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .svg link)
- A GIF link (must end in .gif) (e.g. https://media.giphy.com/media/QQLglDJNVwoFgnmPwj/giphy.gif)
Example of how to add:
Once added, this will reflect in the welcome message.
9. Any other constraints?
The video/image/GIF will appear at the top of the message, below the welcome [user] string.
Only one video, image or GIF is possible to add. They can’t be combined.
10. Can I embed a link?
Yes. However, it can only be added as a text string (not a hyperlink). For example:
"Welcome to Firstbase! Visit this Link: https://www.firstbase.com"
