The IT Closet allows employees to order certain equipment at any time without reaching out to Admins, reducing the need for Admins to see a one-off order or re-assign a package.

How do I find the IT Closet?
The IT Closet is available under the “Equipment” section in the Firstbase App. Add any equipment that you want your employees to be able to order at any time (with admin approval).

Once clicked, it opens up the IT Closet.
How does the IT Closet work?
The IT Closet is meant to mirror an actual, physical IT Closet. You can add any items you want and employees with access to the app will be able to order these items at any point in time. Each order will require approval from Admins, so that there's some ordering guardrails in place.
Existing Employees
For existing employees, if they were created with a package previously, there is no change needed from you to have them access the IT closet to place orders.
They will be able to see the IT Closet as an option when signing into the Firstbase app.
New Employees
For new employees, they will place orders based on the initial package that they get assigned.
Following their initial order and after their start date occurs, the IT Closet will become available for them to order extra items or replacements that they may need.
How do I set up the IT Closet?
As an admin, go to the ‘Equipment’ section in the app and select ‘IT Closet.’ You can assign equipment to it (primarily from peripheral equipment). Any item you add to it will always be available for employees to order and will generate an approval required when an order is placed.
You need to enable the IT Closet by enabling the setting directly in the IT Closet page.
Can I select items in different countries when I set up the IT Closet?
Yes! The IT Closet is country aware. When you set up your IT Closet, each product you select will only be made available to employees in regions where that product can be shipped to. So, for example, an Australian keyboard that should only be orderable in Australia, will now only be shown to Australia employees when they place an IT Closet order.
You can use the country filters to sort out which equipment is available to which regions when you set it up.
This makes the IT Closet easier to use by your employees worldwide and prevents ordering errors for items that shouldn’t be orderable in a given country.
Will used equipment preferences still apply?
Yes. You can select your used equipment preferences when choosing IT Closet categories
How do IT Closet rules work?
IT Closet orders will require approval. An employee can place an order, and we will ship it as soon as an admin approves it.
Can I add a budget to IT Closet orders?
Not at the moment. We are making all IT Closet orders to start based on the approval required. Later in the year, we may explore new ways to control your IT Closet orders.
I've created some employees and they don't have access to the app. How do I add them to the IT Closet in bulk
Let your Customer Success Manager know that you want to bulk invite a large list of employees to the app, so they can order from the IT Closet. We'll help you send these invitations in bulk for all your employees.
What categories and equipment can I choose for my IT Closet?
All categories except furniture, desks, and chairs are available to order via the IT Closet.
